Sick of your sparse brows? Same. And as much as we’d love to travel back in time to tell our teenage selves to step away from the tweezers, we can’t – so here we are, relying on eyebrow growth serums to undo the damage. Whether you’re chasing that slick laminated look or prefer a softer, fluffier finish, a good brow serum can help strengthen hairs and encourage growth where you need it most. And trust us, it’s well worth adding to your routine if fuller, healthier brows are the goal.
“Eyebrow growth serums certainly aren’t essential,” says Dr Sharon Wong, consultant dermatologist and hair specialist. “However, they can be a great option for people dealing with eyebrow thinning or loss – as long as the follicles aren’t scarred or permanently damaged. When the hair follicle is still active, serums can help support the regrowth process.”
When asking UKLASH Founder Nina Pourian what ingredients to look for in a brow serum, she told Glamour: “Key ingredients in brow serums like UKBROW include peptides such as Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17 to stimulate keratin growth, Biotin for hair strength, Vitamin B5 for moisture retention, and natural extracts like Green Tea and Castor Oil to protect and nourish follicles. These ingredients work together to support fuller, healthier brow growth.”
So, whether you’ve always had fine brows or went a little too hard with the tweezers (guilty), the right eyebrow growth serum can make all the difference. Below, you’ll find the ones we’ve tested, loved, and actually seen results from – plus expert advice to help you choose the best formula for your brows.

How I tested eyebrow growth serums:
Myself and a few other Glamour team members have been testing the best eyebrow growth serums first-hand for the past two years, to determine which ones actually makes a difference (and which are just fancy tubes).
When a new product lands on the Glamour beauty desk, an editor who isn't currently testing a serum (we need to be able to distinguish which serum had what impacts) takes it home and begins their 30 days course of testing. We'll look at the ingredients list to spot those we know make a difference to growth, then score against how gentle it is on the skin, smell, how easy it is to apply, consistency and the effects after a full month. We'll take before and after pictrues to track our progress.
Personally, I’ve always struggled with sparse brows, and am constantly reaching for my favourite REFY brow pencil to fill them in. But, since introducing a serum into my routine each night a few months ago (along with my UKLash serum which has done wonders), my pencil has taken a bit of a back seat, and I’ve definitely noticed a difference when it comes to thickness. If you’re wondering whether it’s worth adding a brow serum to your routine, this guide should help you find one that actually works.

Why you can trust me:
I've literally been paid to test new beauty products for over five years now, which means I've tested hundreds of products in my career. Eyebrow growth serums have been getting a lot of hype thanks to cult brands like UKLash going TikTok-crazy, so I wanted to use my experience to do the testing legwork so that you don't have to. I've attended press days, tested countless new launches, and spoken to brow experts and dermatologists to understand why you’d even need a brow serum in the first place. You can trust that this edit is the culmination of years' worth of work and expertise. TL;DR? If your brows are a bit sparse - whether that’s from over-plucking or just genetics - a good serum can really help encourage regrowth and make them look fuller over time.

Do eyebrow growth serums actually work?
In short, yes. Much like eyelash growth serums, eyebrow growth serums work by conditioning brow hairs and stimulating healthy hair growth. They're certainly not an essential product — so whether you decide to invest in one should be down to your own personal brow goals and preferences.
“If you've experienced eyebrow thinning due to factors like over-plucking, ageing, or medical conditions — or you simply desire fuller and more defined eyebrows – an eyebrow growth serum may be worth considering," adds Hoda Kiani, founder of LoveLash.
How do eyebrow growth serums work?
“They contain a range of ingredients which can be divided into two groups – actives that actually regrow hair and are typically medicines or drugs, and ingredients which condition and thicken existing hair, or a combination of the two,” explains Dr Sharon, a hair specialist and consultant dermatologist based in London. “Eyebrow serums therefore work by increasing hair growth, and making the most of the hair that is already there,” she adds.
Which ingredients should I look for in an effective eyebrow growth serum?
In terms of what ingredients to look for, eyebrow growth serums will commonly include keratin, vitamins (such as biotin and panthenol), botanical oils (like avocado, rosemary and castor), vitamin E and peptides, which are also found in lash serums.
“For growth, look for medicines like minoxidil and bimatoprost,” says Dr Sharon. Geeta Yadav, MD, a board-certified dermatologist and founder of Facet Dermatology, concurs. Keep an eye out for “prostaglandin or prostaglandin analog, like bimatoprost," she says. "Or isopropyl cloprostenate, like you’d find in GrandeLash,” she adds. For conditioning, Dr Sharon recommends “biotin, vitamin E and pantothenic acid,” and for strengthening she rates amino acids and peptides.
How often should I use a brow growth serum?
For best results, you'll typically need to use an eyebrow growth serum twice a day — ideally once in the morning, and once in the evening. Apply the serum to clean and dry eyebrows, and allow it fully absorb before continuing with your regular skincare routine. “This ensures that the active ingredients penetrate the skin and follicles to encourage thicker, stronger eyebrow hairs,” Hoda adds.
How long do brow growth serums take to work?
Typically, you should start noticing visible results as soon as you're 3-4 weeks into using it on a daily and consistent basis. That said, the most impressive results should be visible after a minimum period of 8 weeks.
“Unlike scalp hair, the growth cycle of brow hair is shorter — but it can still take up to 3 months to work and consistency is key,” says Dr Sharon. As for maintaining results, “if the product works you would need to continue using it as maintenance,” she adds.
Are there any side effects of using eyebrow growth serums?
Those with sensitive skin might be more likely to experience common side effects like eye itchiness and redness, and eyelid discolouration — and in some cases, even eyelid drooping and changes of eye colour. This is typically caused by prostaglandin analogs, which are popular ingredients for stimulating hair growth that are known to sometimes cause irritation. So, it might be worth looking for a formula that doesn't contain them.
If you do experience an adverse reaction, stop using the product immediately, and seek medical help. And before you bring that wand anywhere near your eyes, it's definitely worth doing a patch test on your arm or neck, and seeing if any irritation occurs over a 24-hour period.
