Best new hotel
Why we love it: The newest luxury addition to the island, the Mondrian is located in the stunning Cala Llanga region on the east coast. Incredibly chic – just like its other outposts – the interiors scream ‘quiet luxury’, with minimal design and impeccable art. There are three gorgeous ocean-front swimming pools to choose from, with striped daybeds and sun loungers dotted at a discreet distance from each other – no overhearing your neighbour's most intimate secrets here. Service is attentive and friendly, and despite having 400 rooms, the hotel somehow manages to feel ‘boutique’. During the preview season we wiled away the hours ordering copious wellness shots, juices and cocktails from the pool bar, occasionally ambling down to the beach. Everything you could possibly want is on site, including seven restaurants and bars (Japanese sushi spot Niko is the most highly anticipated), but if you do fancy a change of scene, there's a direct ferry to Formentera.

Best new adults-only
Why we love it: Opened last summer, Hotel Mongibello Ibiza brings a slice of la dolce vita to the White Isle, with Sixties-style Italian interiors and an appreciation of il dolce far niente – the sweetness of doing nothing. Incredibly stylish, it boasts a '70s jukebox in reception, a dedicated El Gazebo selfie spot by the pool, tableware by a local musician turned ceramicist, Casa Maricruz, plus the chauffeur treatment to the clubbing strip in Alfa Romeos and Vespas. Be sure to check out secret bar Lolas, named after one of the most legendary original clubs on the island.

Best rejuvenating wellness resort
Why we love it: Arriving in the hippy heartland of the north of the island in 2021, Six Senses Ibiza is a natural fit for the White Isle’s spiritually-inclined tourists. Just 20 minutes from Ibiza Old Town, you’re a world away from the hubbub of the clubbing strip, with shoulders visibly relaxing as soon as you pull up to the grand, expansive property. Set within its 20 acres are 137 spacious rooms, as well as suites and villas, many with sea views. Food-wise, you’re spoilt for choice (and naturally, there’s a farm-to-table ethos across eateries): seasonal Israeli cuisine at North restaurant; Japanese at live music venue The Beach Caves; an Italian trattoria-inspired menu at The Orchard; and Spanish at La Plaza. Breakfast is served at The Farmers’ Market, and don’t forget to grab an ice cream from the food trucks that hover around the pool area.
The jewel in the resort’s crown is its Six Senses Spa, where you’ll find a steam room, hammam, infrared sauna, boxing ring and fitness centre, outdoor massage catacombs with direct access to the calming gardens, and a seemingly infinite list of treatments and programme options. Why we love it: This 19th century Relais & Chateau property was a family manor for generations until it was converted into an opulent yet welcoming hotel. Perched high above the walled city of Dalt Vila, a UNESCO World Heritage site it has stunning panoramic views stretching to the sea and is just five minutes to the centre of the Old Town. With just 12 rooms ranging from single rooms to the Grand Suite, there’s an intimate feel to staying here, and you’ll probably know everyone around the pool within a few days. Why we love it: Nestled in the hills of San Antonio and a short walk from the famous sunset strip is the striking OKU Ibiza. Spread across two sites, one is adults-only, which is where you’ll find one of the four pools and the spa – not to mention a juice bar. The ultimate holiday destination if you want to properly switch off (OKU does mean, “inner space” after all) the hotel prides itself on giving guests soulful and enriching experiences through wellbeing practices, great music and superb food. The rooms at OKU are some of the most spacious on the island, with a huge bed, plenty of sink space, a comfortable sofa, a beautifully grand balcony with the signature OKU folding shutters and a Marshall speaker for those all important pre-drink parties.

Why we love it: One of the first ‘agroturismo’ properties in Ibiza, Atzáro was first opened in 2004 on the site of a centuries-old finca. Located between San Lorenzo and Santa Eulària in the northeast of the island, it's discreetly located away from the beach – something which no doubt has made it popular amongst the A-list, who come here to escape and unwind in privacy (Kate Hudson and Rihanna have both been rumoured past guests). Why we love it: Perched on the palm-fringed promenade of Santa Eulalia, Ibiza’s third largest town, W Ibiza overlooks the golden shoreline in this leisurely beachside resort. It’s the perfect spot in which to relax, recharge and enjoy the best Ibiza has to offer - be it lazy sun drenched days, exploring the local Baleric cultural heritage sites, browsing the local market or dancing until sunrise. Interiors play on Ibizan chic in a colour palette of white, yellow and blue, with 162 rooms and larger suites with terraces that boast ocean views. There are eight restaurants and bars to choose from, including a vegan cafe on the promenade and a beach eatery Chiringuito Blu, where you can refuel to the sound of the waves. Chill by the pool and order cocktails to the ‘wet deck’ loungers, alternatively head up to the secluded adults-only rooftop pool and bar and take a dip with mesmerising views over the Mediterranean. When in need of some R&R head down to the Away Spa - a dreamy space where we experienced massages that hit a 10/10.

Why we love it: Just a short water taxi ride across the bay from the Port of San Antonio is Amàre Beach Hotel Ibiza. Located directly on the beach in the peaceful Bou Cove, it’s the perfect place to holiday with friends or a partner as the hotel has a modern adult-only concept. Beautifully designed, it’s got everything you need within the complex, including two stunning pools, sunbeds for days, restaurants, a rooftop bar, a poolside DJ, a gym and of course, the beach. The poolside service is absolutely 10/10: just press a button at your sunlounger and a waiter will appear to take your order as if by magic. We’d recommend the poké bowl washed down with an Amàre special cocktail. The hotel has a great vibe about it: everyone is having fun, guests are all getting to know each other, the staff are the friendliest around and people are down to party all day long. Wallflowers need not apply.

Best affordable stay
Why we love it: Just around the corner from San Antonio, set amongst the rugged dunes of the super private Cap Negret, lies Hostal La Torre, a former hostel, restaurant and bar that has been given a serious makeover. Interiors play up its beachside location, with a boho-chic aesthetic, and it's the perfect spot to get that quintessential sunset snap – in fact, its restaurant is frequently fully booked due to people travelling from across the island to see it in all its technicolour glory. Staff are super friendly and accommodating and there's a chilled out, fun vibe, with a soundtrack provided by some of the island's coolest DJs. There's a small library to peruse and massages to book, plus water sports if you're that way inclined.

Why we love it: Ideally located for revellers, the Grand Palladium White Island Resort & Spa is on the doorstep of some of the biggest and best nightclubs in the world in Playa Den Bossa. It’s real selling point though? The all-inclusive option, which allows you to line your stomach before hitting the dancefloor – not to mention enjoy a restorative full English the next day.
