Hear ye, hear ye: Red, White & Royal Blue 2 is coming to our screens!
Real talk: we’ve been waiting years to see more of Alex and Henry since we first fell head over heels for their transatlantic love story in Red, White & Royal Blue. Sure, we’ve reread the book by Casey McQuiston, devoured her other queer romances, and put the film on repeat, but it’s never enough.

When was Red, White & Royal Blue 2 announced?
It’s actually been a while, hence our impatience. Prime Video first announced on 10 May 2024 that the highly anticipated sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue is in development at Amazon MGM Studios.

“It’s official, a Red, White & Royal Blue sequel is in the works!” the streaming service tweeted, alongside a photo of a cake decorated with American and British flags — very on-theme.
Matthew López, Gemma Burgess, and author Casey McQuiston are writing the script.
However, confirmation that the film is officially in production only came on 19 January 2026, when the movie’s official Instagram account shared a quick video of Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez on set, filming.

Is there a sequel to the book?
Nope, this is an original story for the screen, as there isn’t a sequel to the Red, White & Royal Blue book. However, author Casey McQuiston is involved in the scriptwriting, and she has plenty of other great romances to check out, like One Last Stop and I Kissed Shara Wheeler.
Who is in the cast of Red, White & Royal Blue 2?
Exhale, pals, because it’s confirmed: Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez will be reprising their roles as Alex and Henry for the sequel. That’s right, no anthology style story, no pretending we don’t notice the difference with a new cast.
As for the rest of the cast — Uma Thurman, Clifton Collins Jr, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, and Stephen Fry — we’ll just have to wait and see!
What is the plot of Red, White & Royal Blue 2?
Just a reminder: the first film ended with Alex and Henry going public with their relationship and Alex’s mum, Ellen, winning the election — yay, a female president!
Now, for the sequel, the plot will revolve around the pair attending the wedding of Henry’s sister, Bea. During the teaser video confirming production, Taylor Zakhar Perez said, “Oh, I did want to say that we are here for Bea’s wedding.”
Nicholas Galitzine added, “Yeah, we just wanted to clarify. Don’t get confused—that’s a long way off at this point.”
Grumble. We were secretly hoping it was their wedding. But hear us out: maybe they get engaged in this film and married in the third instalment… a girl can dream, right?
