During every Christmas party season, though, I find myself rethinking my approach to beauty. Experimenting. Wearing colour. Wearing glitter – and levelling-up when it comes to restorative skincare to help my complexion recover. And I've always waxed lyrical that beauty advent calendars are the perfect way to help this process along.
The Sephora Advent Calendar is up there with the very best, serving curated selections of everything cult and trending in the worlds of makeup, skincare, fragrance, haircare and body. It sold out in 2022, and again in 2023 – so I raced to the checkout as soon as it dropped last year. It sold out again – and more importantly, made my Christmas.
You bet, then, that when Sephora reached out to offer GLAMOUR the exclusive reveal of their 2025 advent calendar, I squealed. I'll take any chance to get a sneak-peak inside the drawers of the most sought-after alternative advent calendar of the year. I've been sworn to secrecy with regards to its content, price and worth since the start of July, but today is a very exciting day. My favourite product is the Merit Beauty Flush Balm Cream Blush in Cheeky. We published a full Merit Beauty review the other day, acting as proof as to how much GLAMOUR adores this brand, and the Flush Balm came out as one of the very best. A cream blusher which is easy to swipe on directly from the pot, it serves a subtle flush of colour which can be built upon depending on your preferred intensity. It's glowy, it's balmy and it blends like a dream – and if you prefer a matte finish, you can top it with some carefully-placed pressed powder to suit your needs. So. Good.
The downside… while we have nothing negative to say about its contents, one thing that's a little disappointing is the packaging. Despite it being fun and festive, we can't help but wish it was a little more luxe - especially for the price tag.

How we tested the Sephora Advent Calendar:
I've been reviewing advent calendars for GLAMOUR for the past six years – and for a further two years at other publications. The time I started testing beauty advent calendars was when the market really began burgeoning – so rest assured that I know a thing or two about which calendars are actually worth your money. I'm not in the game of trying to selling you something that won't please you.
When the Sephora Advent Calendar landed on my desk earlier this year, I teamed up with GLAMOUR's other beauty editors and writers to open every single drawer. You can imagine how excited the office was.
Collectively, we judged the calendar against the other releases we'd already seen (like the Charlotte Tilbury advent calendar and LookFantastic advent calendar) scoring against the packaging (we loved that the Sephora advent calendar is totally recyclable, for example – but thought it could look a little more expensive), value for money, number of products, number of full size products and exclusives (this year's Sephora advent calendar scored well in both spaces) and how much the team cared about the brands included. After its big British launch in 2022, Sephora quickly became the nation's go-to destinations for all things beauty – housing exclusive brands such as Makeup By Mario, ONE/SIZE, Tarte and, of course, the retailer's own line, Sephora Collection. All of which were pretty tricky to get your hands on before. Sephora also stocks a tonne of “Only at Sephora” brands. Brands which, for love nor money, you can't buy at any other UK beauty retailer. I'll start with my favourite: the Merit Beauty Flush Balm Cream Blush in Cheeky. One of the best Medik8 products ever formulated, this was a world-first clinical strength retinal for under eyes – as inspired by Medik8's multi-award-winning retinol serum for the face. Approved by derms, Medik8’s #1 skincare ingredient, retinaldehyde, has been stabilised at a clinical strength and combined with ceramides and hyaluronic acid filling spheres. The result? An all-in-one solution for evening eye care which is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet, wrinkles and puffiness while remaining gentle of the delicate eye area.
The third inclusion is the Tarte Tartelette Palette. There are six shades inside: each so creamy, insanely pigmented and multitasking (where there are shades for lid, liner, crease and highlight – arranged in three rows for easy navigation).
Fourth? Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Hue Drops in Sun Glow. A look back: Sephora Advent Calendar highlights from 2024
That's all we can reveal for now, so, let's take a look back at last year to get us more excited.
We were pleased to report that many of our team's tried and true beauty products managed to find their way into one or more of Sephora's three advent calendars last year. Take the Paula's Choice C15 Super Booster, for example. We'd been testing this for our guide to the best vitamin C serums earlier in the year, noting that the L-ascorbic acid, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, and vitamin E-infused formula effectively banished any dull tones and reduced a lot of hyperpigmentation. It has a super lightweight formula and sits really nicely under makeup — so we were delighted to see it featured in Sephora's 2024 advent calendar.
Elsewhere, we also had to shout-out to the two Sol De Janeiro products included in the Sephora calendar. You might be sick of hearing about the brand – but that's only because it's so damn good. The Bom Dia Bright Body Cream is a bodycare must-have, containing Fruit AHAs and Vitamin C to gently exfoliate and unveil smooth, rejuvenated skin, while the Sol De Janeiro Body Mist can be spritzed all over your hair and body to drench you in the delicate notes of Brazilian Jasmine, Pink Dragonfruit and Ocean Air.
When it comes to Sephora Collection, we're big fans of the brand's nail polishes thank to their quick-drying formulas, intense level of coverage, and shiny finishes. So, we were really pleased to see that the Top Coat made an appearance in both Sephora Collection calendars last year — as well as a few other different pretty colours. But our ultimate favourite has to be the Vitamin C+E Super Glow Serum, which helps even out and brighten a dull complexion.
