Net asset value
The net asset value of investment funds stood at CZK 661.9 billion at the end of May. This means an increase of CZK 6.6 billion compared to April (monthly transactions amounted to + CZK 7.7 billion). Compared to the same period last year, the net asset value of investment funds increased by 18.5%. The largest month-to-month change in net asset value was recorded for real estate funds, up from CZK 2.1 billion to CZK 127.3 billion.
Investment in bonds
The bond holdings stood at CZK 161.5 billion at the end of May. Compared to the previous month, the total volume of bonds in the fund portfolio increased by CZK 0.8 billion (monthly transactions amounted to CZK +1.7 billion). The share of debt securities in the fund’s net asset value fell to 24.4% from the previous month.
Investment in equity securities
During the month under review, the volume of equity securities in the fund portfolio increased. At the end of the month, the value of equity securities holdings was CZK 332.6 billion, of which CZK 143.6 billion in stocks and investment fund shares and CZK 189.0 billion in shares. and other participations. The value of equity securities increased by CZK 4.4 billion compared to April (monthly transactions amounted to + CZK 6.4 billion). The share of equity securities in the fund’s net asset value increased to 50.2% from the previous month.
The value of funds invested in other assets increased during the period under review. The total volume of other investments was CZK 213.1 billion in May, of which CZK 53.2 billion were fixed investments and CZK 70.5 billion were deposit investments. The share of other investments in the net asset value of funds increased to 32.2% compared to the previous month.
At the end of May 2021, 588 resident investment funds were active in the Czech Republic, including 62 equity funds, 61 bond funds, 77 mixed funds, 93 real estate funds, 291 other funds and four funds without political investment.

Investment funds refer to investment funds and mutual funds other than money market funds. In accordance with the regulation of the European Central Bank concerning the balance sheet of the monetary financial institutions sector (ECB / 2013/33), MMFs fall under this sector and data relating to MMFs are not part of the statistics of investment funds. .
Transactions refer to changes in inventories that have occurred during the reporting period due to purchases / sales of the given instrument. Monthly transactions are calculated using outstanding differences corrected for reclassifications, price variations, exchange rate variations and other potential variations that do not result from financial transactions (non-transaction effects).
Other investments are defined as funds invested in assets other than bonds and equity securities (including deposits, loans and real estate).
